Ranch dressing is such a staple. There is only one store brand that I actually like, which is Tessemae’s. It isn’t filled with sugar or chemicals like most brands. Also, even the most popular brands just taste fake to me and what’s to like about that?
With a few simple ingredients and an immersion blender, you can have your own delicious ranch in a few minutes!
- 1 cup light tasting olive oil*
- 1 egg
- splash of white wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chopped dill**
- 1 teaspoon chopped chives**
- 1/4 cup milk
*Light tasting is key. If you use regular olive oil, you will regret it; trust me 🙂
**If you don’t have fresh herbs at home, the freeze dried ones you can keep in the spice rack work beautifully.
In a long narrow jar ( I use a plastic quart container) add the oil and egg. Let the egg settle to the bottom. Add the vinegar.
Using an immersion blender, placing it all the way down in the jar, turn it on and begin to move it upward slowly.
In just a few seconds, you will essentially have mayonnaise. Add salt, seasonings, and herbs. Blend gently. Thin with milk to desired consistency.
This dressing is so easy to make and so delicious. Have fresh cilantro on hand? Toss it in! Want to add some spices? Go for it! Here’s a chance to not get in trouble for playing with your food!
